Hello! Welcome to the first readng.co email product update.
If you're unsure what readng is, we're building companion app (& website) for readers. You might have signed up to our waitlist a few years ago, or you might already be part of the beta! At any rate, we will only send the occasional update — no spam, promise. However if you do want to unsubscribe, no hard feelings, there’s a link at the bottom of this email.
With that out of the way, we want to show you what we’ve been working on, so let’s get on with it.
New Features
Book ratings
Ratings are finally here! Now you can let people know what you think of a book and publicly display your recommendation on your profile. Plus, see what the community think of a book when you're struggling to decide on your next read. Be aware though, since ratings are all subjective anyway, we thought we'd do it a bit differently to everybody else. Let us know what you think!
Search by language
We've heard from some of you that searches sometimes return results in an entirely different language. This is frustrating, so we've released a language filter to let you restrict your search to a specific language. Hope this helps!
Abandon a book
There are a lot of books out there - we won't judge you for not finishing. Things get in the way, and life is too short to slog through a book that isn't for you. You can now mark a book as abandoned if you decide to move on, whatever the reason.
New homepage
We’ve been working on a new homepage that we’re hoping shows off what we’re about a bit better. Check it out! (Beta users will have to log out first)
So what's next?
Privacy settings! Hide your profile from prying eyes & search engines.
Reading goals! Trying to read more? Set a reading goal as motivation!
Improved desktop layout! We’ve got some changes in the pipeline that will lay the groundwork for more good stuff to come in the future.
We can’t list every update here, so if you’re curious about what else we’ve been up to, we post smaller & more regular updates to our twitter account. (We’re also running a giveaway on twitter for the next week if you’re into that.)
Also, a big thank you to those of you that have been using the feedback button in the app. It’s really been invaluable to us, so please keep it up!
